Life vs. Choice
The issue of abortion is one of the most divisive in America today
and Democrats for Values believes our party is on the wrong track. To be
consistent with our traditional party principles we have to take a
different approach.
We believe the rights of an unborn child outweigh the
problems of an unwanted baby.
Universal Healthcare Coverage
We believe all Americans should have access to an affordable
healthcare system that promotes cheaper drug medication and choices to
patients.
Fair Taxes and Responsible Social
policy
We support a fair tax system that focuses on helping
families and the middle and lower class. We believe giving
incentives to care givers will help not only our families, but benefit
society as a whole.
Environment
We are committed to protect our natural resources and support the need
to find technologies to reduce our dependency on oil, coal, and
other pollution causing fossil fuels. In addition, make it more attractive for
companies to make less of a negative impact environmentally, instead of just paying
minimal fines.
Gun Control
We believe that with the right the second amendment 'Right to Bear Arms'
comes the responsibility to protect our neighbors and
family from the misuse of that very right we so proudly proclaim.
Hand guns and assault weapons are not only needlessly killing our
children, but threatening the very fabric of our society. We
support laws that will
force responsibility on gun owners to keep them safe from children and
theft as well as laws that reduce the number of handguns and
assault weapons on the street and encourage gun safety for all types of
fire arms.
Education
We believe all children deserve a quality education that should not be
determined by where they live or their socio-economic background. We also
believe value based education should be promoted in a safe learning
environment. We believe that schools should be more accountable
for the standard of education they provide.
Death Penalty
We believe the justice system is imperfect and we as a people have
already put to many innocent men, women, and children to
death because of incorrect or even tampered evidence. This
is unacceptable and has no place in a civilized world. Life
imprisonment without parole would have a more profound effect on a
guilty person, and killing criminals does nothing to bring back their
victims.
Gay Marriage
We believe in the sanctity of marriage between a man and a
woman. We also accept homosexuality is not a choice, and that civil unions should be protected on a federal level.
